What - no Reds?

What - no Reds?

A few months ago, my sister Dreamwood Taracastle (Enya) and The Boss left home one evening and didn't come back till late.

Now this behaviour is not at all like Enya, who is usually tucked into bed by 7 o'clock after dinner and 'lights out'.

I discussed this with my kennel mate Dreamwood Gaibrial (Gaib) and he said he remembered this sort of thing happened once before.

That was back in January 2013 and 2 months later she had Puppies - 7 of them.

The best part was that 3 were Red and White - which is a very special colour for a Border Collie - just like me.

Could this be happening again?

They're all Boys

They're all Boys
Boy oh Boy - so much for that thing about 50/50 for Heads and Tails.

Dreamwood Dog becomes Delta

Dreamwood Dog becomes Delta

I was really excited to hear the news this week about my half sister Dreamwood Dublin Lass (Tasha).

Tasha was born in January 2013 to my daddy Ch Dreamwood Gallagher (Ciaran) and my grandma Dreamwood Niamh (though she doesn't like me calling her "Gran").

Tasha's mummy told us that she has been training to be a 'Delta Therapy Dog' and that she aced her exam last Saturday.

There must be something in the water...

There must be something in the water...

It only seems like yesterday that The Boss was hanging up some curtains in the room where my sister had her puppies over a year ago.

So I figured there was something happening when Brig started getting lots of special attention - you know, being invited inside at night and staying there!

Hearing the Kibble tin opening in the middle of the night and then finally little squeaky sounds at odd times - could only mean one thing - PUPPIES!.

When it rains in Tennyson...

With only 21.3 mm recorded in November and after several recent afternoon and evening storms passed tantalizingly by, Tennyson was finally blessed with some rain.

Shattering the peace of early morning (think 2:30 am), the bedrooms and kennels reverberated with the thunderous accompaniment to a brilliant light-show.

The rain came down 'like-cats-and-dogs' according to the Weather Station at a rate of 130 mm / hour, filling the gauge with 34.8 mm in a little over 90 minutes.

By 4:00 am it was all over.

And then the Cock crew once, twice...

Puppy Escapes Cave

Puppy Escapes Cave

The grainy picture at the top of this Blog tells quite a story.

Most grainy pictures usually tell us that the photographer was having an 'off day', the lighting was poor or the subject was lying in the sand.

But this one tells the story of the puppy that got away...

Now it will come as no surprise to hear that Border Collie puppies are renowned escape artists and are most adept at getting into, or out of, all sorts of places - but that's usually after a couple of weeks.

They've arrived...

After wallpapering her Cave and stripping it down several times because she didn't think it looked 'Perfect', Enya finally got the message from the puppies that 'Now is the time Mum'.

Unproven assertion #1

Brown bears don't brush their teeth when they wake from hibernation - but polar bears do, so their teeth stay as white as their coats.
